Audi A3 TDI — Green Car of The Year 2010

Monday, December 7th, 2009

The financial crisis has changed people’s habits regarding cars that are more fuel efficient, so knowing what’s the green car of the year 2010 has a bigger impact than ever — but enough with the intro as I’m sure you already know that Audi A3 TDI has secured that title. Announced by the Green Car Journal, the “luxury car features an impressive EPA estimated 42 mpg on the highway – a 50 percent highway fuel efficiency improvement over the standard gasoline engine A3. Plus, this Audi’s quiet, clean diesel engine delivers loads of low-end torque and a fun-to-drive experience, all with the functionality of a 5-passenger hatchback,” says Ron Cogan.

Audi A5 Sportback

The 2010 Audi A5, the trendy Sportback based on the curvaceous A5 Coupe and Cabrio has finally been announced with a full set of details but sadly, this car will not make it to the American shores. A derivative of the mid-size, five-door liftback, it comes with an extra set of doors and tailgate to combine functionality with form. Come September, the European buyers will get to choose from a set of six different engines, three each for gas and diesel units. The first one hails from the A4 territory and with a 2.0-liter capacity it can either churn 180 or 211 horsepower depending on what you buy, plus, there is also a 3.2-liter V6 option available.

Audi has released new photographs of the Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster. The TT RS comes with a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder that sports 340 horsepower and churns 332 lb-ft torque. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, featuring Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system, five-spoke 18-inch wheels and exterior styling as aggressive as what’s under the hood, that’s the gift I want from Santa this year. How about you guys? How about the new Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster?

Audi R8 is pretty badass on itself, but not for the wicked tuners from Wheelsandmore. The 13,998 euros tuning package adds a compressor to the whole deal, making the beast pump nothing less than 530 horsepower. But it’s not only about power, because it features a braking system with 8-piston calipers at the front, 6-piston ones at the back, and high-performance pads. If all these are not enoguh and you still have more of those hard earned greenies, Wheelsandmore will add an aluminum race suspension for 3,999 euros or a 8,949-euro hydraulic lift full-race suspension, a 5,500 euro front lip spoiler and rear diffuser (carbon fiber) and two sets of 20-inch alloy wheels ranging from 9,250 to 9,800 euro.
